Apparel Fit & Sizing Guide

How to Measure Yourself

Use a soft measuring tape and measure snugly — not tight — over bare skin or light underwear. Write down each measurement in inches.

  • Bust: Measure around the fullest part of your chest, keeping the tape parallel to the floor.
  • Waist: Measure around your natural waistline — the narrowest part of your torso, typically 1" above your belly button.
  • Hips: Measure around the fullest part of your hips and seat, approximately 7–9" below your natural waist.
  • Inseam: Measure from the crotch seam to the ankle bone along the inner leg.
  • Rise: Measure from the crotch seam to the top of the waistband at the front.

Tip: Have a friend help for the most accurate reading.

Brand Sizing vs. Your Measurements

Garment sizes (XS, S, M, L, 25, 26, 27…) are cut to a brand's own spec — they are not universal. Always compare your measurements to the size chart below rather than relying on a number or letter alone. If your bust and hip measurements place you in different sizes, size up and note stretch or style fit notes.

Size Chart

Size Bust (in) Waist (in) Hips (in) Jean Size (waist)
XS 32–33 24–25 34–35 24–25
S 34–35 26–27 36–37 26–27
M 36–37 28–29 38–39 28–29
L 38–40 30–32 40–42 30–32
XL 41–43 33–35 43–45 33–35
1X / 14 44–46 36–38 46–48 36–38
2X / 16 47–49 39–41 49–51 39–41
3X / 18 50–52 42–44 52–54 42–44

Measurements are in inches. Sizes may vary slightly by style and fabric. When between sizes, size up.

Garment-Specific Fit Notes

High-Waist Jeans (incl. Risen Tummy Control High-Waist Frayed Jeans)

  • Rise: High-rise sits at or above the natural waist — size to your waist measurement, not hip.
  • Tummy control panels add compression; if you prefer a relaxed feel, size up one.
  • Frayed hems are finished — no additional shortening is needed, but inseam length varies by style.
  • Size to your waist first; if hips are more than 12" larger than waist, size to hips and use a belt.

Tops & Blouses

  • Size to your bust measurement first.
  • Fitted styles: match bust exactly. Relaxed/oversized styles: match or go one size down for intended drape.
  • Crop tops: check the listed crop length against your torso length (neck to waist).

Dresses & Jumpsuits

  • Size to the largest of bust, waist, or hip — whichever puts you in the highest size.
  • Wrap and A-line styles are the most forgiving across measurements.
  • Bodycon styles: match both bust and hip for best results.

Shorts & Skirts

  • Size to hips for pull-on styles; size to waist for styles with a clasp or zip.
  • Check the listed rise (mini, midi, maxi) against your torso proportion.

Stretch & Fabric Guidance

  • Non-stretch denim / woven: Size to measurement exactly or up by 1 for comfort.
  • Stretch denim (1–2% elastane): Can size to measurement; fabric will ease with wear.
  • High-stretch (spandex/lycra blends, 4-way stretch): Size down 1 for a fitted look; size to measurement for relaxed.
  • Ribbed knit: High stretch — size down 1 from your usual size.
  • Woven / linen / non-stretch: No give — size up if between sizes.

Fabric content is listed on each product page. When in doubt, size up — it's easier to tailor down than to size up after purchase.
